The SKM Group started an initiative called “DISHA” where they identify less fortunate women and provide them with an opportunity to learn nursing at the Charnock Hospital and in turn work as “Health Aids Assistants”. This makes them capable of being employable and earn their livelihood. Once the students complete the one year full time course, they get an opportunity to be hired by the hospital or any other hospital as per their choice as a HCA/GDA/Patient Caregiver in various organizations such as small hospitals, nursing homes, home care etc. The Charnock Hospital is used as a base for the course, and the training is conducted by the faculty and doctors and is completely free of cost.
